A 3000 sq.ft space in an old warehouse, previously used as a rice granary has been refashioned into an office space. The existing structure has a brick masonry construction for the walls and piers that supports a sloping ‘Flat Truss’ system topped with asbestos sheet to form the roof. The south & east sides of the corner warehouse are open while the north & west are blocked by adjacent warehouses. The idea was to preserve the warehouse and have a straight forward layout for the office in an industrial aesthetic using clean and minimalist design details, keeping it in line with the existing ethos and causing minimal damage to the structure. The project needed to have a frugal yet sophisticated looking construction. The material palette was kept simple and majorly restricted to timber and glass.
